I’ve never been much of an RPG person, but I randomly picked this up for the switch November of 2023. I got maybe 15 hours in and I really enjoyed what I played. Life got in the way I never picked it back up but recently got a steam deck and I am waiting for a good sale to buy it again.

i liked eva cause I didn't relate to just one perticular character but little bits and pieces of all of them. This kept me at a safe enough distance from going batshit crazy everytime something relatable happened because I could relate to only parts of it. Evangelion made me realise I am nothing but a bunch of memories. I am made of memories.

Funnily enough I've had this exact experience in my own writing, though certainly not to the sophistication that Anno managed. It's a hell of a thing to face when you put a character you create through hell, thinking they deserved it only to realize what parts of that person came from you

Anno was an excellent source of creativity and characters, etc., but his incessant pessimism and depressing attitude (along with his low-key hatred of his fans), leads me to prefer Sadamoto’s take on Evangelion via the manga as the superior version of the series. Sadamoto’s emotionally stronger and more confident version of Shinji (towards the end mind you), was so refreshing, and he actually seemed more realistic than Anno’s insufferable sad-sack Shinji that never really learns or grows enough…

Evangelion is a very high quality anime but I can't help myself to hate it. It's one of the biggest exponents, if not the greatest, of wimpiness.
